Guide
Switching to CareMAR from paper or another eMAR
Short answer
You do not retype your binder. Snap a photo of a paper MAR or a pharmacy label, upload an Excel or CSV file, or forward your pharmacy's MAR to your home's import email. CareMAR reads it and puts every medication in a review list. Nothing goes on the MAR until you approve it.
CareMAR is $79 a month per home with up to 6 beds, with no setup fee and no contract, and your first home gets a 14-day free trial.
What to have ready
- Each resident's current MAR: the pharmacy's printout, your paper MAR, or an export from your current system
- Your pharmacy's fax number, so new orders can come to your CareMAR fax inbox
- The names and emails of the staff who need an office login
- Your caregivers' names, so each one can get the caregiver app
How it comes in
- Medications: photo, Excel or CSV, or a forwarded PDF. Each one lands in a review list you approve.
- Pharmacy orders after you switch: they arrive on your home's own fax number, matched to the resident.
- LIC forms: CareMAR fills them from what is already in each resident's record.
- Your old records: upload them to each resident's files so everything is in one place.
If you are leaving another eMAR
Ask your current vendor for an export of each resident's active medications, as a PDF, Excel or CSV file. Any of those can be imported. Keep your old system until your first full month in CareMAR is printed and checked, so you are never without a record.
What it costs to switch
Nothing extra. There is no setup or onboarding fee, and you pay the same $79 a month as everyone else. See pricing for the details.
